“Get the Facts Out” (GFO) is a national initiative in the United States aimed at addressing misperceptions about teaching careers, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. The initiative seeks to provide accurate information about the teaching profession to students, faculty, and parents to encourage more individuals, especially those in STEM disciplines, to consider and pursue careers in teaching.
GFO focuses on dispelling common myths and misconceptions related to teacher salaries, working conditions, and other aspects that might deter potential educators. The initiative uses research-based strategies to inform and change perceptions about teaching, emphasizing the positive aspects of the profession.
The GFO community unites educators, administrators and researchers in an effort to repair the reputation of the teaching profession. Our champions are working to change the conversation around teaching and celebrate the positives of the career, supported by GFO’s wide array of resources.
